"Costa Rica Dota Hermosa is grown by the Coopedota cooperative farms in the mountainous Tarrazu region of Costa Rica, with the highest elevation in the country, Tarrazu is famous for its beautiful landscapes and exceptionally high quality of Arabica coffee. Prior to the introduction of Coopedota Cooperative in this area of Tarrazu, coffee farming in the area was challenging. The producers had little expertise in agronomy and the coffee was sold to middlemen who paid producers unfairly. With no wet mills nearby, long trips had to be made to process their coffee. Mr Estanislao Ureña Mora & his brother Jose Ureña Morawas introduced coffee to the area, and between the two, they sowed a plantation of two hectares and produced their coffee without the use of agrochemicals. Then came Ramon Blanco who built a wet mill in San Pablo de Leon Cortes, and producers began taking their coffee there. In 1929 a wet mill was built in Santa Maria, thus was born Coopedota Cooperative.The varieties grown are mainly Caturra and Catuai, but some farmers are experimenting with Obata, the cross between Timor Hybrid and Villa Sarchi brought to Costa Rica from Brazil in 2014. Coffee from here is picked by hand and pulped mechanically, leaving it super clean ready for the fermentation stage and drying on patios. For the honey process, 70% of the mucilage is left on the bean before following a similar path – the cherry being agitated just enough to ensure even drying without any over-fermentation. We LOVE honey processed coffee from Costa Rica, always providing us with incredible creamy and buttery flavour profiles, with hints of stone fruits that make for the perfect espresso cup. Dota Hermosa is sweet and mellow with delicate Grapefruit citrus notes, Honey and Butterscotch flavours that bring out that delicious creamy mouthfeel and flavours that we are so obsessed with. Costa Rica Dota Hermosa shines as an Espresso, however if you are looking to really enhance those delicate fruit flavours then brewing with a Cafetiere or filter methods will provide a sweet and juicy cup. Roasted to Light/Medium."
