Oncidium Twinkle is a cross between Oncidium cheirophorum and Oncidium ornithorhynchum. This orchid hybrid is credited to William Whitmore Goodale Moir in 1958. Oncidium Twinkle are easy to grow, compact growth, profuse flowering, relatively disease free, and in a range of colors. This hybrid can bloom at any time of the year, especially preferring the autumn period. Duration of flowering at least one month. The size of flowers is about 1.5 cm.
- Pot Size: 8cm
- Average Height: 20cm
- Watering: dependant on temperature, in higher temperature and light exposure, it will need more regular watering, however it needs really good drainage as they're prone to root rot.
- Lighting: Bright dispersed light or partial shade, this plant can handle being in windows but will need to be kept an eye on for signs of the leaves burning
- Extra Info: This plant requires good humidity so a good mist occasionally or being placed on a tray or saucer of wet pebbles really helps this plant flourish. It is all temperature and light depend though so in the summer it will require more misting. Being an Orchid hybrid this plant needs to undergo short periods of rest during the winter where the plant isn't exposed to temperatures above 18°C during the day and no higher than 14-15°C during the night. During this period the watering should be cut down and should only be a substrate water, the best way to achieve this is to have a sink of water and carefully dip the plant pot into the water for a few seconds. Roughly around the beginning of march is when the dormant period ends and you can go back to usual maintenance.
